The information below is a summary of the minimum education, experience, and examination requirements established by the Alaska Real Estate Commission.

Follow these steps to obtain your real estate license:

1. Verify the requirements to obtain your license.

  • Pass the appropriate exam
  • Not be under indictment for forgery, theft, extortion, conspiracy to defraud, or any other felony implying character untrustworthiness.
  • Apply for licensure within six months after passing the exam.
  • Pay the appropriate fees
  • Meet the appropriate education requirements.
  • Be at least 19 years of age and work for a licensed broker.
  • Complete 20 classroom hours approved pre-licensing education.
  • If ever convicted of any of the specified felony charges, the complete sentence must have been served.

2. Locate a real estate school.

3. File your application.
