Texas Real Estate Licensing Details

The information below is a summary of the minimum education, experience, and examination requirements established by the Texas Real Estate Commission.

We recommend you contact the Real Estate Commission for more detailed information and for any changes which may have occurred.

Follow these steps to obtain your real estate license:

Step 1		Verify the requirements to obtain your license.
Step 2		Locate a real estate school.
Step 3		File your application.
Step 4		Take your real estate exam.
Step 5		Submit your Career Evaluation Request to interview with Keller Williams Realty.

1. Verify the requirements to obtain your license.

To be eligible to apply for a real estate Salesperson License, an individual:

Must be 18 years of age
Must be a citizen of the United States or a lawfully admitted alien
Must be a legal resident of Texas
Must furnish the Commission satisfactory evidence of successfully completing the following education:
- Principles of Real Estate core real estate course (60 classroom hours)
- Law of Agency core real estate course (30 classroom hours)
- Law of Contracts core real estate course (30 classroom hours)
An additional core real estate course (30 classroom hours)
Another four semester (60 classroom) hours in core courses or in related courses acceptable to the Commission. To review the approved list of college courses, click here.

2. Locate a real estate school.

Finding a real estate school to obtain your license is easy. You can either take your courses in a classroom setting or online from the comfort of your own home; the online version allows you to finish at your own pace and from anywhere. 3. File your application.

To obtain an evaluation of your education documents submit the form, Request for Evaluation of Education Documents.

After the Commission has notified you that your education has been satisfied, you may then file and pay for the Application for Inactive Salesperson License.

4. Take your real estate exam.
