The information below is a summary of the minimum education, experience, and examination requirements established by the Washington, DC Real Estate Commission.

1. Verify the requirements to obtain your license.

To obtain a real estate salespersons license, candidates must be:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Complete 60 clock hours of pre-licensing education.
  • After successfully completing the course with a passing grade, candidates are required to pass a national and state exam administered by ASI/Promissor (contracted by the District of Columbia to handle testing).
  • Candidates must apply for their real estate license within one year of passing the ASI/Promissor exam.
